Shipping high-value equipment

Protect valuable equipment by planning its packaging, restraints, handling and insurance before dispatch. The equipment's value, weight and sensitivity each affect the preparation it needs.

These guides summarise ANC's shipping terms and preparation advice. Read the full terms in the ANC app and confirm the requirements for your cargo before sending goods. Mobile app ↗

01

Describe the equipment and document its condition

Provide the equipment description, purchase value, photos, quantity and final packed dimensions and weight. Retain the valid purchase invoice and required shipment documents, and record the equipment and packaging condition before dispatch. Explain sensitive components and the manufacturer's handling instructions. Declare batteries, liquids, magnets, Bluetooth functions and other features requiring review. The Foshan sea receiving unit refuses medical goods and dangerous goods, and the terms contain other cargo restrictions. Confirm acceptance for the exact equipment before arranging transport.

02

Design protection around the equipment

Work with the manufacturer or a suitable packaging specialist on a system that supports the equipment and protects precision parts. Depending on its design, this may include a wooden crate, foam, cushioning or suspension packaging. Choose moisture protection compatible with the equipment, such as an appropriate cover and desiccant where needed. Confirm the requirements for any wooden packaging before it is built. The packaging must remain suitable for transport, handling and storage.

03

Plan restraints and handling information

Use suitable restraints at the equipment's approved fixing points to prevent movement inside the package. Clearly mark relevant handling information, including orientation, the centre of gravity and Fragile where appropriate. Tell ANC about oversized or heavy pieces early so the warehouse can confirm the receiving and handling arrangements. Include any additional loading or unloading work in the service request and quotation.

04

Understand liability and request insurance

ANC's standard liability is limited under its terms, unless otherwise agreed in writing, to the lesser of the actual goods value or USD 25 per kilogram for air freight, or USD 400 per cubic metre for sea freight, per shipment rather than per item. Exclusions and subcontractor limitations also apply. These limits are not a promise of compensation. Full-value insurance is not automatic: request it in writing before origin-warehouse shipment and confirm the additional premium and special agreement.

05

Prepare for collection and inspection

Arrange collection promptly after the arrival notice and settle outstanding charges before cargo release. Count and inspect the equipment before signing for and removing it from the destination warehouse. Report any damage or shortage immediately and preserve the supporting records. The terms require a written claim with a valid purchase invoice within seven calendar days of delivery at the destination warehouse, and waive shortage or defect claims once the goods are signed for and removed.
