Choosing between sea and air freight

Start with your delivery deadline, packed cargo size and product requirements. Air freight can suit urgent or smaller shipments; sea freight is often more economical for larger loads and planned stock replenishment.

These guides summarise ANC's shipping terms and preparation advice. Read the full terms in the ANC app and confirm the requirements for your cargo before sending goods. Mobile app ↗

01

Match the service to your deadline and load

Tell ANC when the goods will be ready and when you need them at destination. Air freight can suit samples, urgent stock and lightweight equipment. Sea freight can suit larger orders planned ahead. LCL combines smaller consignments in shared container space; FCL uses a dedicated container. Compare the complete agreed journey and quotation using the packed size, weight and handling requirements. Cargo value alone does not decide the service, and all timing depends on the available departure and shipment requirements.

02

Measure the finished packaging

Air freight is charged on the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight. ANC's terms state the conversion as 1 kg = 0.005952 cubic metres. The outer carton or crate, cushioning and other packing materials affect the chargeable shipment. For LCL sea freight, the terms provide for a density calculation and possible measuring tolerances caused by container gaps. Send the final packed measurements and ask ANC to confirm the calculation for your quotation.

03

Check what the quotation includes

For China-to-UAE shipments, the standard service is from ANC's warehouse in China to its warehouse in Sharjah Industrial Area 17. Supplier collection and delivery to your UAE address can be arranged at an additional cost. Confirm loading, unloading, customs and any special handling charges. Under ANC's terms, freight charges are calculated at origin dispatch and may change with shipping costs and market conditions; confirm current charges before booking.

04

Review the product before choosing a route

Declare batteries, liquids, powders, magnets, cosmetics, perfumes, Bluetooth functions and branded goods before your supplier sends them. Restricted cargo requires review and any necessary written approval and documentation. The Foshan sea receiving instructions refuse medical goods, dangerous goods and food. An available sea or air service does not establish that a particular product can be accepted.

05

Send goods to the designated warehouse

Foshan handles air and sea shipments; Yiwu handles sea shipments only. Open an account and obtain ANC's complete receiving instructions first. Delivery to the designated air or sea warehouse instructs that shipping mode under the terms, without another confirmation before dispatch. Give your supplier the correct address and customer code, and keep ANC's official cargo receipt. For the Foshan sea receiving unit, arrange supplier deliveries from Monday to Saturday; it is closed on Sunday.
